| All rights belong to original ownersSo, today, I wanna talk about, in my opinion, one of the most innovative video games series.
I'm going to talk about "Inazuma Eleven" ! "Inazuma Eleven" is a Soccer-RPG video games serie developped and published by Level 5.
The first game has been released in Japan on August 22, 2008 by Level 5. There are 2 trilogies : "Inazuma Eleven" (the original one) and "Inazuma Eleven GO" (The first is good, but the second is better).
The first trilogy (on Nintendo DS) is composed of:
- "Inazuma Eleven" (1 version)
- "Inazuma Eleven 2" (2 versions: "Firestorm/Blizzard")
- "Inazuma Eleven 3" (3 versions: "Spark/Bomber". They are the original versions, and an other one has been released after: "Sekai e no Chôsen ! The Ogre !" This one has an other story, it's more complete)
And, the second trilogy (on Nintendo 3DS) is composed of:
- "Inazuma Eleven GO" (2 versions: "Shine/Dark")
- "Inazuma Eleven GO 2: Chrono Stone" (2 versions: "Neppu/Raimei")
- "Inazuma Eleven GO 3: Galaxy" (2 versions: "Supernova/BigBang")
Some "spin-off" has been released, like "Inazuma Eleven strikers", they're not as interesting as the DS/3DS versions. Now, I would like to talk about the games, I will talk about the anime later ! I will talk about the story of the first game, I don't want to spoil you the fun of the other games ! - Read if you want to know the beginning of Inazuma Eleven's story:
The main character, Endô Mamoru (Mark Evans in the dubbed version), is the captain and the goalkeeper of Raimon's soccer club and he is the grandson of Endô Daisuke (David Evans in the dubbed version), one of the strongest goalkeepers in Japan and the original Inazuma Eleven's coach, one of the strongest soccer team. He died before Endô Mamoru was born. The soccer club has 7 members, Endô is very enthusiastic while the 6 other members don't appear to be very interested, even in training... One day, a mysterious forward named Gôenji Shûya (Axel Blaze) moved to Endô's Town, Inazuma. the next day, the soccer club's coach announced that the club will play a match against "Teikoku Gakuen", the strongest soccer team of Japan, who won the "Football Frontier" (Yeah, they call Soccer "Football" in Japan) every year for 40 years...
Why do they want to play against Raimon ? Who is really this mysterious forward ? You'll discover it by playing "Inazuma Eleven" on Nintendo DS or by watching the anime !
I don't want to tell you more about the story, except that the "Inazuma Eleven GO" trilogy take place 10 years after the first trilogy, so, the characters aren't the same ! - Read if you want to know the Beginning of Inazuma Eleven GO's story:
It's the story of Raimon's soccer club, 10 years after, Matsukaze Tenma (Arion Sherwind) is going to enter inside Raimon and join the soccer club, but, he realizes that nothing is normal, the match results are decided in advance and some "Seeds" (Very Strong players) are sent by the organisation controlling this, the "fifth Sector". Some of them are able to summon "Keshins" (Fighting Spirits) and are violent. He realizes that Shindô Takuto (Raimon's soccer club Captain) accepts this because, if they don't, the club will be closed. He also realizes that Tsurugi Kyôsuke (Victor Blade) is one of these "Seeds"... Tenma decides to start a Revolution inside the hearts of all the players of the club, and want to play real Soccer !
But, I recommend you to play the first trilogy before ! So, the game is divided in 2 parts, the RPG part, featuring various locations that Endô and his team have to explore in order to get new items, face several other players in short casual battles (4 VS 4) or to advance further in the story. The second part in the match: using the stylus, you can control your players, you can dodge opponent's attacks, you can slide-tackle or use some "Hissatsu Techniques". Every player has skills, for exemple, the "luck", the "Defense" and the "Kick" ones... The player's affinity and the number of players participating in a action determine the result of the player's action. And, the most important is that a "Hissatsu Technique" can't be stopped by a normal action in the first game, but, after, this will be possible ! There are "Dribble Hissatsu" and "Defense Hissatsu" that can be used against a player. And "Shots Hissatsu" can be used to shoot against the goalkeeper, and "Keeps Hissatsu" can be used to stop the ball. Bad points:
- The dubbed versions are horrible... But, if I talk about the Japanese versions, it isn't a bad point....
- The childish aspect, you know, I like this childish aspect, but, it's an objective judgement, so, I can't say it's a good point, because it's childish, some people don't want to play it, and, it's sad, because, in my opinion, this video games serie is a "master-piece"...
Good points:
- The OST of this serie is awesome ! I don't know how to describe it... Just listen to THIS and THIS. The opening themes are very good too, like "Tachiagariyo", "Uchiku Dark" or "Raimei ! Blue Train" !
I think the musicians wanted to do really good musics, and, they did...
- The evolution ! In every new game, there is new stuff added.. Like, longshots and blockshots in "Inazuma Eleven 2", Chainshots and Hissatsu Tactics in "Inazuma Eleven 3", Keshins in "Inazuma Eleven GO", MixiMaxs and Keshins Armed in 'Inazuma Eleven GO 2: Chrono Stone" or even Souls in "Inazuma Eleven GO 3: Galaxy" ! The game is evolving with each new part, and that's cool ! A very good point !
- The characters, they are beautiful... For exemple, the main characters are developped, they have a style... I don't know how to explain, but, in my opinion, the characters are a good point for this game !
- The gameplay, it's innovative, it's different from "Final Fantasy" or "Pokemon", and, come on, it's made by Level 5, I have nothing else to say.
- The story is finished in 25 hours, but, it's not the end of the game ! After, there are some "Taisen Routes" ! You're gonna play against some very hard-to-beat teams ! And, if you win every match with at least 5-0, you'll earn some extra stuff or Hissatsu Techniques !
Now, I wanna talk about the anime, I won't talk that much. The anime is pretty fun to watch, if you like the game, you gotta watch the anime ! Some scenes are only in the anime ! So, feel free to watch it ! I recommend you to watch in this order:
- Inazuma Eleven (127 episodes)
- Inazuma Eleven The Movie: Saikyô Gundan Shûrai !
- Inazuma Eleven GO (47 episodes)
- Inazuma Eleven GO The Movie: kyûkyoku no Kizuna: Gryphon !
- Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stone (51 episodes)
- Inazuma Eleven GO VS Danball Senki (Movie)
- Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy (43 episodes)
- Inazuma Eleven: Chou Jigen no Dream Match (OVA)
That's all ! I hope you enjoyed this article, and I hope you're gonna play "Inazuma Eleven" ! Bye bye ! | |
