| Subject: Should I enter the Academy instead of chilling in Rukongai? Mon Apr 25, 2016 6:00 pm | |
| Where Hiro enters the stage!Today the sun is hot as hell. I have found a tall tree to lie under a few hours ago, its generous leaves protecting me from sunburns. While letting my fingers play a funky beat on the ground, I finally decide to stir the yogurt in my skull which anyone else calls a "brain". I have been a Soul for nearly 15 years now. Such a damn long time. After so long, I've barely aged. Still looking like a 12 years old kid when I should have reached 21 by now.Although I like hanging out with the other Souls in my district, I am driven by an urge to build something.I wanna help the Souls around me. We all lack water, decent clothing, and most walk bare footed. I don't remember anything 'bout my life as a Human, but it ain't all that hard to figure this afterlife is bull ....Huuun.I let my sight fly over the little houses on the border of the field, then farther over Rukongai...and eventually stop before the high walls circling Seretei. Behind them should stand the Shinigami Academy. Everyone keeps talking about it. That there you can have a steady job and warm food and a comfy bed. There, I can learn how to fight and protect the poor in Rukongai. ...Most importantly, I will be allowed to come back .Back to the World of the Living. They say it's hard. They tell kid Souls that the teachers are high on their heels, that you get scorched from practicing Demon Arts, that the upperclassmen beat you to a pulp at kendo. Tch. Who do you think I am?Gets more than some bruises to make me bow.Stretching, I stand up from my resting nest. My shoulder and kneecap bones let out cracking sounds. Which has never prevented me from scratching my butt. Huff. Time for some evenin' Jiu-Jitsu practice, Hiro.Gazing back at the broad wall out in the distance, I clench my teeth. I apply tomorrow. To be followed downtown: girls gettin' hot. | |
