"Hop hop hop!"

I only stop running as I reach the 7th Squad's barracks.

Many fellow soldiers wave at me as I walk through the corridors. The members of this Squad are bound by a strong sense of sacrifice, and the belief that our differences are to be treasured. Above all, we wish to make our Captain proud and always try to get along well. Quarrels about ranks have no place here. We stand as one and equally defend our title of "the bravest soldiers of the Gotei 13".

Ah, too bad, I haven't bumped into Tetzu-san yet... time is flying! 
Well, nevermind his sake debt, I will go to the Captain straight on then.


Entering the office after knocking 4 times, I face my astonishing Captain, Komamura Sajin. Everything here has been adjusted to his standards since he became a Captain, and I feel like an ant before the high walls of the room and the massive body of my revered leader.
He stands up from his large wicker tatami and welcomes me with the warmth of his baritone voice.

"Good morning, Yowaiseishin. How are you? And what brings you to this room?"

I stand straight, and answer him while looking at him in the eyes, as he wishes so from every one of his comrades.

"Sir, you know that I am about to be sent to the World of the Living on a scouting mission. After having carefully discussed it with the other Shinigamis sent with me, we decided that a more experienced hand would prove more than useful.
Thus, I came to you wishing for your approval regarding which foretold added member to recruit."

The giant fox ovewhelms me with his gaze before replying.

"I agree that the mission comports high risks. However it is the reason why I decided to send you, my 4th Grader, along. I have witnessed that you are well-versed in the defense of your teammates. Besides, Captain Muguruma told me nothing but good about your partner Tsukihô Satori. I trust your wisdom on fulfilling this mission well together. I will admit that your proposal surprises me.
Who is the one you wish to bring by your side?"

"She is Hoshino Mayu from the 10th Squad, my Lord Komamura."

My Captain's eyes seem to get darkened as he hears the stained name.
He turns towards the large window behind us, and contemplates the surrounding forests. 
His body sags down as he sighs slowly.
Turning back, with his golden eyes set upon me, he lays his large palm on my shoulder.

"That woman is a brave one. She has faced many perils and deserves to put her experience and strength into something of valor. I hereby grant you my approval."

"...my Lord, I am very pleased! I swear to you that I will ensure that Hoshino Mayu puts her many skills into achieving great and wise deeds. I promise I will honor your teachings and the spirit of the 7th Squad."

"Farewell, then, 4th Grader Yowaiseishin. Please come back in one piece this time."

We both bow our head before each other, and I leave the room with a fresh feeling of happiness.

There's hope that Nee-San will join us!
